After a long journey from their homes in Portland, Jamaica The Jolly Boys arrived in New York City (NYC) yesterday for their most important show yet. Their NYC debut to the fans, media, cultuarri and fashionistas tomorrow February 24, 2011 at Hiro Ballroom at the The Maritime Hotel!



For weeks the excitement has been building for their highly anticipated Big Apple debut and their good karma already seems to be manifesting since ‘the boys’ are currently celebrating Maracas player Joseph “Powda” Bennett’s Birthday! To add intrigue to elation The Jolly Boys entered the U.S through Gate 22 on Powda’s Birthday (the 22nd of February). We take this as a promising sign.

Since being snowed in in London at the end of their tour of Europe a few weeks ago The Jolly Boys have been enjoying some well earned time in the sun in Jamaica while preparing to take modern mento to The United States for the 1st time ever with a show set for January 13th at the Hiro Ballroom in New York! With their tour of Europe drawing to a close, The Jolly Boys are now back in one of their favourite spots to tour, The United Kingdom! In fact it was just a few months ago, while on tour in The UK in the Summer, that lead singer of The Jolly Boys Albert Minott (in good humour and high spirits) stopped by Buckingham Palace for a visit with The Queen:

After bidding the Emerald Isle farewell over the weekend the mento maestros The Jolly Boys, amidst autograph signings and a radio interview, made their Scotland debut with an impressive performance at Oran Mor in Glascow.



While on stage at Oran Mor The Jolly Boys gave their Scottish fans a serving of classic and contemporary Rock & Roll covers done in their uniquely modernized mento style. On Saturday December 11, 2010 after shaking things up with a crowd-pleasing performance at The Pavilion Bar and Nightclub in Cork, The Jolly Boys showed the Irish fans at The Button Factory in Dublin just how hard they can party.



It was their first time being back in Dublin since their hit show at this summer’s Electric Picnic Festival and The Jolly Boys couldn’t wait to get back out there and show the fans in Dublin that they could be even more “jolly” in the winter.
